F50 Milling Head - Universal Milling Head capable of being mounted onto most lathes .........

The "SAPORITI F50" milling head is an auxiliary unit fitted onto lathes or threading machines for the manufacture of plasticising type screws.

This milling unit consists of a steel fabricated spindle holder, which also supports the motor and transmission group. It is fitted onto an auxiliary carriage, and axial movement is via leadscrew and hand wheel. The Spindle nose is of the ISO 50 type. An AC Motor operates at 15 Hp.(11Kw) - Max. Spindle speed 1500 rev/min (optional 20 Hp.(15Kw)). The control is of inverter type, enabling to adjust speed up to 2000 RPM. at constant power; below 1500 RPM. The motor operates at constant torque.

The electrical equipment is placed in a separate cabinet from where an extension cable up to 10 Metre's connects it to the motor; this same box also contains cables for the control panel, which is placed on the machine carriage. It includes the potentiometer of RPM adjustment, the start, stop and emergency button. Further controls may be added such as cutter rotation, workpiece speed adjustment, taper on-off, and so on.

OPTIONS

 Steady Rest:
A follow rest of up to Ø300 maximum can also be supplied this rest should be fitted on a fixed plate, suitably positioned in comparison to the workpiece axis.

Taper device: At the rear of the carriage, a chain wheel is fitted, which sends the movement to the cross slide screw of the traverse moving carriage. By following a suitable method and selecting different sprockets, the workpiece can be tapered. Connecting or disconnecting the electromagnetic clutch is by means of cams or buttons placed on the control panel.

 D.C. Motor and reduction gearing:
The movement of the workpiece is obtained by fitting on the lathe a D.C. permanent magnet motor, provided with Nm 26 torque, controlling a worm screw reduction gear. By the insertion of the correct ratios and by exploiting the adjustment of the revolutions by means of a potentiometer you can continuously vary the speed from a few revolutions per minute up to 15 minutes per revolution.
